My name is Arthur Meehan. I have been a private guitar instructor in Charlotte, NC for the past 20 years and in the Ballantyne, NC area for the past 15 years. I teach beginner, intermediate and advanced electric and acoustic guitar to middle-school age children through adults. My ability as a guitarist along with strong communication skills and extensive teaching experience enable me to customize a lesson plan specific to the musical interests and needs of each student. Lessons can be tailored to include music such as Classic Rock, Blues, Pop, Indie, Country, Folk, Instrumental, Indian (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu...) and Worship. I also emphasize important aspects of musicianship including Improvisation, Rhythm, Music Theory and How to Practice. My Guitar and Ukulele lessons are professional, using a state-of-the-art format and are designed to assist the student in developing the necessary skills to reach their goals quickly. Whether it's playing for an Indian festival, joining a band or being part of a church worship team many of my students enjoy their own level of success in musical situations from personal enjoyment to professional musicians.
My own guitar studies were in New York with the late Jazz Guitarist Howard Morgan, Jazz Guitarist Larry Meyer and Classical Guitarist Jerry Willard.
I am currently on the faculty of PUMC Music Academy in the Ballantyne, NC neighborhood.
I have been learning guitar from Arthur Meehan for about a year. I always felt happy and satisfied learning guitar with him. He has a easy and effective way of teaching as per what you want to learn rather than using a standard teaching practice for all. He understands your music interest, your strengths and caters personalized teaching plan. Art is very talented, versatile, patient and a good music teacher you will always be comfortable with, irrespective of your age. I always look forward to my guitar lessons. I highly recommend him.
Art Meehan has been teaching guitar to different members of my family for over 15 years. When my youngest son finished high school and started college, I took over his lesson slot and at age 52, began learning how to play guitar which I had always wanted to do and now I have a fun, new hobby to enjoy in my senior years. Art is a talented musician and an excellent teacher who is patient, kind, and tailors his lessons to my individual needs and music interests.
Arthur Meehan is a very talented and passionate teacher. My daughter has been taking guitar class since she is 6 (she is 8 now). I am 38 and always wanted to learn guitar, Mr. Meehan’s method of teaching and techniques really impressed and motivated me to start my lessons with him finally. He is brilliant in identifying his students interest, strength and challenges and develops a personalized plan that helps them not only improve their skills and confidence but also enjoy what they do. It’s been a year since I started and I feel very lucky and thankful to have found him. I highly recommend him.
Thank you for teaching guitar. Daniel and Ethan have learned much and continue to enjoy the process of improving and developing new skills. Daniel is now leading worship at the church we attend.
I just wanted to let you know how appreciative me and my mom are that you have taught me this past year. Your strong Christian influence and amazing talent have been such a blessing and I have learned so much from both.
Art. We truly appreciate the time each Tuesday that you give Shannon. She comes home so excited about the things she can do. She has learned so much.
Art, Man you are such an amazing guitar player. I can't thank you enough for all the time, effort and thought that you have put into me over these past years. Your training on both Bass and Guitar will be the fundamentals that I will never forget and serve me for the rest of my life. I wish there was some way that I could tell you how much you have done for me but I don't think it can be put into words. Thank you for your patience. Thank You for your joyful attitude and character every week when I walked into the room. Thank you for the late nights you spent working with me. Thank you for who you are and I thank God for the opportunity to get to know you as a man, teacher and friend but most importantly as a brother in Christ. Thank you Art!!
Art Meehan's guitar method is outstanding. We seldom ask our daughter to practice her guitar. After only 10 lessons this beginner is filling our home with real music and saying, "lets do it again."
Art. Thank you for the excellent instruction that you have given Mark these last months. Looking forward to next year.
My 11 year old daughter has been taking lessons from Arthur for almost 3 months. Already she is playing music with a full sound. For this reason practice time is something she enjoys. (And we enjoy listening too!) Mr Meehan has a special curriculum developed for young students which enables them to play chords from their first few lessons. He has excellent communication skills and a time efficient technique. Haley looks forward to her lesson and I feel our time and money is being wisely spent.
Mr. Meehan. Thank you for being such a wonderful teacher, role model and friend for Mark these past several years and for sharing your time, talents and music with him. You are a blessing to our family.
